What we will learn: |
Seventh grade science is primarily devoted to Earth Science, while sixth grade was primarily Life Science, and eighth grade is primarily Physical Science. During seventh grade we will study:
Unit 1: Earth Structures: layers, minerals and rocks, history, plate tectonics, earth dynamics, earthquakes and volcanoes, and environmental impacts. Unit 2: Energy and Energy Transformation: Using energy and heat, waves, sound and light. Unit 3: Heredity and Reproduction: Reproduction of organisms, and genetics Unit 4: Evolution and Interdependence off Organisms: Environment changes over time, interaction of living things. |
My philosophy:
|
My teaching style uses the textbook as a guideline but greatly enhance our learning with hands-on activities and projects. The students will remember what they DO more than what they hear or read! I also require written, visual, and oral presentations during the year. It is never too early to get over the fear of public speaking! The students will become "experts" on their own topics to share with the class.
I love parental involvement! Please watch this site for special supplies that are needed for experiments. Sometimes volunteer work can be completed at home for parent volunteer hours. Plus, please consider "adopting" 7th grade science, as we are raising money for supplies in the classroom. Thank you!!! |
